Blog Poetry Slam 23: SIlence

This is the 23rd installment of my weekly Blog Poetry Slam, so glad you stopped on by. I thought maybe today we can write poems about silence. Do you accept the challenge? I am gonna share a piece after the picture and another in the comments, please join me... I look forward to reading your poems, they can be short (even haiku), long, serious, or funny: it's up to you! Happy Writing!

i hate...

silence.
i don't want to hear
repression.
memories then have my undivided attention
nothing to drown out the incessant firing of synapses
playing target practice with my pain.

so turn the music up.

I appreciate depth but down is depressing
I am high like Him
Gravity is grief and levitating is greatness
Lift up
Chin up
Speak up
Don't talk downwards drowning words
'cause that shit is for shallow people
and I'm just too damn deep.

The Chad said...

she said i don't inhale what i can't see --
i touched her face and showed her my reflection
complete with sweat and imperfection
she twisted her sensuality like a J
and listened to what i had to say...

"the whatever i give you is not just for consumpion
I thirst just like you, don't make the assumption
that i don't breathe like you and inhale your skin,
if i'm ever going to drink you back in."

me: amber-hued honey
slowly entering your mouth
shy and slippery
wanna be inside your heaven

you: juicy purple grapes
slick on the outside
bursting with flavor on the inside
rolling sweetness on your body

Issues that I can't let go of
Heartache that holds on like a cancer
Lovers from a past life
Baggage
Only way to relieve this back pain is to
let it go
Drop the Coach Purse full of anger
Set down the reusable grocery bag with the tears
Throw away the plastic bag of misery
Let it go

rock bottom.

love is my drug and...
right
now
it. is. killing. me.
but sobriety is not an option
that i am willing to take
because until the lows
outnumber the highs
i will continue
to love
you.

miss you?

i wrote this the end of last year... i am feeling it right now. Sometimes I get tired of saying "I miss you" ? Well that's what this poem is about....

miss u ?
Lost in a labyrinth of lonely.
and.
Longing to linger and loiter in your laughter again.
At times you may feel my emotional lexicon is lacking
and.
I am tired of trying to total these thoughts:
..... with the miniscule mouthing of "miss you"

*and this song below has got me feeling some kinda way especially when the track hits 2:50 .... wooo chile...

Blog Poetry Slam 22: 7 Deadly Sins

This is the 22nd installment of my weekly Blog Poetry Slam, so glad you stopped on by. I thought maybe today we can write poems about one (or all) of the 7 "deadly sins"*. Do you accept the challenge? I am gonna share a piece after the picture and another in the comments, please join me... I look forward to reading your poems, they can be short (even haiku), long, serious, or funny: it's up to you! Happy Writing!
7 deadly sins:
*Lust
*Gluttony
*Greed
*Sloth
*Wrath
*Envy
*Pride

Just Say No..... (poem) *a piece me and my blog partner Tiha wrote a while back

Hypocritical US always on their high white horse
Pointing syringes, I mean fingers and aiming nuclear weapons
Government dope fiends
With no righteous vein in sight
Do anything for a dollar
Just to squander
.....on instant gratification
...and long term suffering
12-steps ain't working
The United States of Arrogance can't get past step 1
Admitting the problem
And their pride cushions all their faults
But even they can't make the destruction any more comfy
......Witless leadership pacified by heroin dreams

Sweet slumber, take my hand
Lead me into the starry far reaches of my imagination
Place with in my reach the dreams that may come true
Envelop me in the softness of the sublime reenactments of my daily mundane.
Sleep, show me future as I rest from the now.
Set the stage for the intertwining of time and space right here within my small piece of the universe
Interpret my biggest fears in a way that I won't fully understand until I either die or...

wake up.

Fast forward the time
Just to slow my thoughts.
The speed of things ain't in sync.
Life just stops
Everything else still goes.
The speed of things ain't in sync.
Going no where fast,
Going no where slow.
Going to no where
with no where to go.
The speed of things just ain't in sync.

It was a moment to taste her pie.
My neck encircled by two sides, I,
Felt I was ready but I,
Couldn't handle the radii.
She co-signed... damn!
Dividing her two ankles,
I didn't want to regress; I tried to best fit the angle.
But I couldn't try an angle with two ankles.
It was worse when that English girl left for a couple of bilinguals.

Scratch.

Itch.

Feening.

Fix.

2 dollars? Not enough.

Steal some stuff, isn't that tough.

Get a job. Get a place.

Get somewhere to hide my face.

Now I get my fix more often. Speech is getting better daily. I don't have to go without, as a matter of fact it's rarely. I look in the mirror, I sure do look different. Feel that way, too. Now I got my own personal supply, heh, who knew?

I'll never sell it though, this white girl is my best friend. She was here through everything, stuck by me till the end.

I married the dope. Tried to think of different ways to get high, but none works, nope. She gets mad, disappears too fast, simply because now I always wants a piece of her ***. My boy called, said to come through, stat. He's got something new for me to taste, it's called Crack.

It's time to divorce you and leave you alone. You've already taken my car and home. All I got left is this coffee mug.. I wish that sex wasn't my favorite drug.

But it is. Time for a new high.

mirrors & haiku

the last post made me think of this haiku:

words are reflections
i see me in my poems
i don't need mirrors

*feel free to write your own haiku in the comments....

...mirrors

This an excerpt from a piece I am tweaking for a performance/Slam piece. the poem as a whole is discussing the facades we often display and just me digging down a little deeper.

enjoy....

So now , I just throw poetry slams in the bathroom mirror
With tears as audiences
Leaky faucets snapping after each verse
Staring in the eyes of my biggest critic
She looks just like me...
Except I can't find her smile
And her eyes are red
But I know I have seen her before
alliterating on stages
and whispering sweet love nothings on pages
But I know that deep down, there has got to be more...

Blog Poetry Slam 21: Virtues

This is the 21st installment of my weekly Blog Poetry Slam, so glad you stopped on by. I thought maybe today we can write poems about one (or all) of the 7 "virtues"*. Do you accept the challenge? I am gonna share a piece after the picture and another in the comments, please join me... I look forward to reading your poems, they can be short (even haiku), long, serious, or funny: it's up to you! Happy Writing!

*Chastity
*Temperance
*Charity
*Diligence
*Patience
*Kindness
*Humility
Next week will be the seven deadly sins... This should be fun!

Patience is a virtue
Well.....
that is vir-false.
and anyway I'm not so concerned with virtue
I'm too far gone.
And I have no time to wait for you to analyze that.
And I won't ask for it.
Because I don't want lessons in waiting
I want what I want when I want it
I want my red velvet cake..... and I want to eat it..... and I want some milk too.
Yes, imagine that, if I buy a cake I want to eat it too
...too logical I know.
Keep up...
Good things come to those who wait
Yes, that's nice:
But so do bad things
And bad things happen to good people.
So what's my incentive exactly?

The Real World...

*just me playing around with words, I'm not this bitter.... not most days anyway...*

The real world is a vile evil village, where you are reviled and vilified for just trying to stay alive,

A place where ravenous villains revel in unraveling lives with viral lies...

A place where avarice is revered,

Behind masks depraved devils are revelaed.

this is a stanza from one of my poems Love At First Sight

I wanted your digits…
to figure out the derivative of your good nature,
be around to witness the product of your multiplicity of goals,
and see how they all add up to make your total package.

and here's a haiku:

thief, you stole my heart
about six or seven times
but who is counting?

and you weren't fighting
